How much should a videographer cost?

There are many factors that will determine the cost, a non-exhaustive but comprehensive list is:

  • the amount of time needed to capture the videos (and any photos);

  • the experience of the videographer/s;

  • the risks to equipment and videographer (underwater, drone work etc);

  • the cost of the equipment being used (for example, our gear for any particular shoot will range from $12,000-$25,000);

  • travel and other expenses related to the shoot;

  • whether the booking is a once-off, or ongoing business relationship (usually allows for greater discounting); and

  • whether the videographers are part-time or full-time.

Videographers in Sydney, Melbourne, and most professionals around Australia will charge usually around $150-$500 per hour, or a flat rate fee of $1,000-$10,000 for a project (most within $1,500-$3,000) depending on costs and any extra added value.

Some media agencies and videographers offer special packages as we do depending on your needs. For example, the tourism industry often would need a videographer for an advertising project which may span over several days, or a resort may want to showcase their hotel, as well as some of the activities around the area and this gives you, the resort owner, the flexibility to negotiate a reduced price from the costs above.

For example, we break up our services in various pricing arrangements so that you don't get charged for things you don't need (drones, insurance premium for underwater photography) and factor in if you would like to use us in the future to give you an even reduced cost.

We also want to give future and current clients the opportunity to use our services on a reduced or no-cost basis for shoots that are for a charitable purpose.
